Amy Swigart is internationally recognized for her knowledge and experience addressing Reactive Attachment Disorder. Amy is a Behavioral Specialist Consultant and mental health therapist who consults for a number of placement facilities, juvenile courts, and programs. She is a probation officer with Butler County Juvenile Court Services. Her Over thirty years of experience has resulted in national recognition for providing therapy, education and consultation for Reactive Attachment Disorder, severe regressive behaviors and diagnoses on the autism spectrum. The juvenile justice system has enabled Amy to gain experience as a Child Sexual Abuse Investigator, Adoption Specialist, Probation Officer and Chief Probation Officer. For nine years, Amy was a foster parent supporting teen-age girls with severe emotional problems. Writing grants for Harrison County, Ohio, she received funding and developed eight programs that grew to support the mental health needs of youth across the state of Ohio. Since then, Amy has worked as an independent contractor for law enforcement agencies interviewing victims of domestic violence and rape. Amy joins the team at Inspiring Change, LLC to continue her work educating, counseling and advocating for youth with severe and persistent mental illness.
This year the team at ICLLC made presentations on Trans Youth in the Juvenile Justice system, Trans 101 for all Service Providers and the Co-Morbidity of Trauma & Juvenile Delinquency. Neuropsychology continues to be a 'hot topic'. The team has developed presentations to help others to learn about the effects of trauma on the brain and behavior. The team continues to present to public school personnel, court systems, mental health providers, adoption, foster and parent groups locally and across the USA. Amy and the team at Inspiring Change, LLC are accepting invitations for speaking engagements for next year.
